Neil price
Neil Price is one of the most prominent Viking Age researchers in current academia. He is the author of many books considered standard works and has also contributed to many documentaries, TC series, films and other popular media. He is a professor at Uppsala University and has previously taught at various other universities.
The Viking Way
One of Price's most notable works is the book 'The Viking Way', a book that started as his doctoral research and has since then been expanded upon and been published multiple times. This book is considered a standard work and is an excellent book to start your way into exploring the Viking Age and its many corners.
The Viking way is more than a book on just archaeology and the Viking Age in general. This books also dives deeper into the spiritual world of the Viking Age and will touch upon the ritual customs Price had already written about a lot in the past. A must read.
Children of Ash an Elm
This is another, more recent, book by Price. Widely regarded as a very good book, possibly even more so if you are already familiar with the Viking Age or have read Price's 'The Viking Way' prior.
This book is similar to the book described before. It goes deep into the archaeological side of the Viking Age and brings up topics that are currently discussed in Viking academia. The book is popular in many regards, but has not gone without criticism within the academic circles. Price has been criticised on dropping the ball on points outside of archaeology, sometimes going too far into conjecture or being factually wrong on historical or linguistic accounts.
